Cutting. Drawing. Writing. Getting dressed. Still a daily struggle.
For parents who know their child is capable but can't figure out why some days are so much harder than others.
Most parents in this situation have tried activities, adjusted their approach, and waited.
What's often missing isn't more strategies — it's a clear framework for understanding
what's happening underneath. That's what this free 35-minute session is designed to give you.

Craft time ends in frustration. Homework takes longer than it should. Getting dressed before school is rushed and tense. And through all of it, your child is clearly trying — concentrating hard, gripping tightly, slowing right down to control every movement.
But the output doesn't match the effort. And that gap is unsettling.
You've adjusted how you respond. You've encouraged more, stepped in earlier, reduced expectations on the harder days. You've tried activities and strategies. Some things helped briefly. Nothing has added up to a clear picture.
The hardest part isn't the tasks themselves. It's not knowing what's underneath them — and not being sure whether what you're doing is actually helping.
That uncertainty isn't a parenting problem. It's an information problem. And it's exactly what this session is designed to address.

Hi, I'm Esmé
I'm a paediatric occupational therapist and founder of Skill Sense® OT. Over 25 years of clinical work, one pattern has come up again and again.
Parents who are already paying attention. Already trying. Already adjusting. And still carrying a quiet, persistent question: what is actually going on underneath this?
That question deserves a clear answer. This session is where that starts.
What I know after 25 years is this: when parents begin to see their child's development through a clearer lens, something shifts. Not just in how they respond, but in how they feel about what they've been observing. That shift is what this 30-minute session is designed to give you.
In this free 30-minute session, you’ll explore:
Why effort and progress don't always match
Why a child can be concentrating hard, slowing right down, and genuinely trying — and still find fine motor tasks consistently more effortful than expected. And why that pattern has an explanation that most parents haven't yet been given.
How to read the good days and the hard days
Why inconsistency in fine motor performance is rarely random, and what the pattern of easier days and harder days may actually be telling you about what's happening underneath.
Why there is more to this picture than meets the eye
A simple, honest look at what sits beneath the surface of fine motor difficulty, and why understanding that there are layers underneath changes how you interpret what you've been observing.
What a structured path forwards looks like
For families who want to move beyond understanding into building foundations, this session will briefly introduce what a structured next step looks like — so you leave with clarity about your options, not just the pattern.
It does not include individual clinical assessment, diagnosis, or therapy recommendations.
Your child sits down, concentrates, and genuinely tries — and fine motor tasks like cutting, drawing, writing, or getting dressed still feel slower, more tiring, or more effortful than they seem like they should be
The inconsistency is what confuses you most — capable and settled one day, overwhelmed by the same task two days later, with no clear explanation for why
You've been told to keep practising — but you suspect there may be more to understand about what's actually contributing to the pattern
You've tried things. Some helped briefly. But nothing has added up to a complete picture
You sense there's an explanation you haven't been given yet
You're not looking for a quick fix — you want clarity about what may be happening underneath, and how to think about your child's development more accurately
If any of this sounds familiar, this session was built for exactly where you are.
