For parents who can see their child is working hard — but can't yet understand what's driving the effort.

Fine Motor Challenges Rarely Come Down to Fingers Alone.

Strong Fingers is a structured 10-week program built around the foundational systems that support hand development.

It gives parents a clear, guided pathway to strengthen what sits underneath everyday tasks.

You've encouraged more practice.

You've bought new craft supplies.
You've reminded, prompted, and adjusted.

And your child is genuinely trying — you can see it.

They concentrate.
They grip tightly.
They lean over their work and slow right down to get it right.

But scissors still feel awkward and tiring.
Getting dressed before school still runs long.
Drawing, craft, and fiddly tasks still take more energy than they should.

Some days things go reasonably well.

Other days the very same task falls apart completely.

And you're left quietly wondering:

Is this about effort?
Attention?
Maturity?

Or is something else going on?

Often, it's something else.

Fine motor challenges are rarely just about fingers.

Most parents are told to practise more. To be patient. To wait and see.

And often, that's exactly what they do because they don't yet have a framework for understanding what's actually happening underneath.

Not knowing isn't a parenting problem. It's an information problem.

And without that framework, even the most attentive parent is left responding to what they can see, rather than what's actually driving it.

When you understand what sits beneath the struggle, everything about how you support your child begins to shift.

A note from Esmé

Hi, I'm Esmé,

Over more than 25 years of working with children and families, I've sat with a lot of parents who were doing everything right, and still couldn't work out why things weren't getting easier.

They weren't missing effort or commitment. They were missing a framework.

And without that framework, even the most attentive parent is left guessing — trying one strategy, then another, quietly wondering whether they're helping or just adding to the pressure.

That gap between trying hard and understanding clearly is exactly what this program is designed to address.

I'm a paediatric occupational therapist and the founder of Skill Sense® OT. My clinical work is grounded in Ayres Sensory Integration®, an advanced, evidence-based framework for understanding how the foundational systems of development influence what we see on the surface.

Over more than two decades of practice, across schools, clinics, and telehealth, I have consistently seen the same pattern: when the underlying foundations are understood and supported in the right sequence, everyday tasks begin to feel steadier and less effortful over time.

That pattern is the basis for everything inside Strong Fingers.

What parents say about working with Esmé

"Lovely and easy to speak to. There is understanding, no judgement."

— C, mother of Miss H

"Such a professional, caring and supportive approach when talking and working with my child."

— K, mother of Mr D

"You were always welcoming and highly supportive. You show care and consideration towards both the child and parents. There is clear communication."

— K, mother of Mr L

Strong Fingers is educational in nature and does not replace individual occupational therapy assessment. Where a child's needs require personalised clinical support, individual assessment is recommended.

Strong Fingers

Fine Motor Skills for Confident Hands

Strong Fingers follows a clear four-step pathway designed to take you from uncertainty to understanding, and from understanding to confident, structured support at home.

The Strong Fingers Pathway

STAGE ONE

Understand

Begin by learning what may be contributing to your child's fine motor effort.

You'll develop a clear framework for interpreting what you're observing, so the pattern begins to make sense.

STAGE TWO

Strengthen

With that understanding in place, you'll move through a structured sequence of play-based activities designed to build the foundational components that support hand skills in the right order, at the right pace.

STAGE THREE

Build Consistency

Short, regular sessions establish a steady rhythm at home. The program provides a manageable weekly structure that fits into real family life.

STAGE FOUR

Reflect

You'll return to your starting observations and begin to notice what has shifted in effort, endurance, and everyday participation.

What's included in Strong Fingers

Strong Fingers is designed to develop steady progress without overwhelming busy families.

Each week builds gently on the last, giving you clarity and confidence as you support your child's hand skills at home.

The Strong Fingers Program is available in two formats:

  • Live cohort

  • Self-paced

The content is the same for both the live cohort and self-paced programs.

Play-based Activity Guides

Each week you'll receive structured, purposeful activities designed to strengthen the foundational components that support hand skills.

Activities are practical, home-friendly, and deliberately progressive across the 10 weeks.

Clear, Developmental progress

The program follows a structured pathway so that activities build on one another over time.

This helps ensure that what you do with your child is connected to a meaningful developmental progression.

Reflection and Observation Tools

You'll begin by noticing what your child is already showing you.

Throughout the program, these reflection points help you recognise changes in effort, endurance, and participation.

12-Month Program Access

Content is released weekly throughout the program. Once released, all modules, activities, and recordings remain available to you for 12 months from the program start date — so you can revisit anything at any time.

Exclusive to the live cohort format:

Weekly Live Training Sessions

Each week includes a focused live teaching session that translates the foundational components of hand development into clear, practical understanding for parents.

You'll come away knowing what you're building and why it matters.

Live Session Replays

Both the weekly training session and Q&A are recorded. Replays are made available after each session so nothing is missed.

A Private, Live Cohort Parent Community

A small, private space where parents moving through the same live cohort program can share experiences, ask questions, and support one another along the way.

Weekly Live Q&A Sessions with Esmé

Each week includes a live Q&A session where you can bring your questions and observations and receive guidance in a supportive group setting.

These sessions help you interpret what you're seeing and feel confident in how you're supporting your child at home.

Exclusive to the self-paced format:

Weekly Recorded Training Sessions

Each week includes a focused recorded teaching session that translates the foundational components of hand development into clear, practical understanding for parents.

You'll come away knowing what you're building and why it matters.

A Private, Self-paced Parent Community

A small, private space where parents moving through the same self-paced program can share experiences, ask questions, and support one another along the way.

Two 15-min Sessions with Esmé

You will have access to two individual 15-minute sessions with Esmé.

These are scheduled at key points in the program: one early on, to make sure you're observing and responding in the right direction, and one later, when you've had time to put things into practice and may have more specific questions about what you're noticing.

Strong Fingers may be a good fit if...

  • Your child is aged approximately 4 to 8 and finds everyday fine motor tasks more effortful or tiring than expected.

  • You notice good days and harder days and want to better understand what may be influencing the difference.

  • You have tried things here and there, but nothing has felt cohesive or connected to a bigger developmental picture.

  • You are looking for a structured program to follow that supports fine motor development even if your child is not experiencing obvious difficulties, but you would like to strengthen their foundations early.

  • You want a structured, evidence-informed approach you can follow at home, without needing a clinical background to understand it.

  • You value understanding before strategy and want to know the reasoning behind what you are doing.

  • You are ready to commit to short, consistent practice across 10 weeks.

This program is not:

  • A diagnostic tool or clinical assessment.

  • A replacement for individual occupational therapy where that is needed.

  • A handwriting program.

The program is designed to give you a clearer framework for understanding what may be contributing to your child's effort with everyday hand tasks.

But understanding is only part of it.

The structured, progressive nature of the program means that alongside that clarity, you have also spent 10 weeks consistently working on the foundations that support hand skills. Over time, that consistency is what creates change.

You may begin to notice everyday tasks feeling a little steadier. A little less effortful. Participation that feels more confident and less draining for your child.

The program is structured to support consistent, gradual foundational practice in the way evidence-informed skill development is designed to work.

That is what 10 weeks of structured, guided foundational work is designed to support.

Your Questions Answered

What age is this program designed for?

Strong Fingers is designed for parents of children aged approximately 4 to 8 who are finding everyday fine motor tasks more effortful or tiring than expected.

Will this diagnose my child?

No.

Strong Fingers is a parent education program designed to help parents better understand the foundations that support fine motor skills and how these may relate to everyday hand tasks.

The program does not provide diagnosis or individual clinical assessment. It shares general information and structured ideas that families can explore at home.

If you have concerns about your child’s development, an individual occupational therapy assessment may be helpful.

Do we need special equipment?

No.

The activities in Strong Fingers are designed to use simple materials that most families already have at home, such as paper, crayons, play materials, and everyday household items.

The focus of the program is not on purchasing equipment, but on understanding the underlying foundations that support hand function.

Can we still do this program if my child already receives occupational therapy?

Yes.

Some families choose to use Strong Fingers alongside occupational therapy as a way of better understanding the foundations that support hand skills and how these may relate to the patterns they observe at home.

Because the program focuses on parent learning and everyday activities, some parents find it helpful as a way of supporting practice between therapy sessions.

Strong Fingers does not replace individual occupational therapy assessment or treatment, and parents are always encouraged to discuss any questions about their child’s development with their therapist.

How long do we have access to the program?

You’ll have access to the program materials for 12 months, so you can return to the modules and activities whenever it works best for your family.

What if I miss a live Q&A session? (Live cohort format)

Parents often have busy schedules, and it’s not always possible to attend every session.

Both the weekly training session and Q&A are recorded and replays are made available after each session, so nothing is missed.

If this approach feels helpful for your family

Many parents arrive here after months of noticing, wondering, and quietly carrying the question of what may be sitting underneath their child's effort with everyday tasks.

Strong Fingers was created for exactly that parent.

If having a clearer framework and a structured, guided way to support your child's hand development at home feels like what your family needs right now, you are warmly invited to join the founding live cohort, or join the self-paced format.
