What it is and why it matters

What it is

Brilliant Basics is a collection of short, focused trainings that look at the foundations behind everyday skills, things like sensory processing, motor development, attention and self-regulation. Each training covers what is happening, why it matters, and small steps you can take at home.

Why it matters

Many of the things parents notice day to day, like avoiding certain tasks, big reactions, or tiring quickly, are connected to these foundational systems. When you understand how they work, it becomes easier to make sense of what you are seeing and to know where to start.

How these resources help

Rather than adding more activities to try, Brilliant Basics helps you understand what sits underneath. With that understanding, the small steps that follow make more sense and are easier to put into practice at home.

New trainings, added regularly

This section will grow over time. We are starting with sensory processing, what it is, why it matters, and the small wins that can make a difference, before moving on to each of the sensory systems and the other foundational areas covered on our services page.

Want to know when new trainings are added? Skill Sense Notes is a short email once or twice a month, helping you make sense of what is happening for your child.
